Youth Brigade Academy

The Youth Brigade Academy (YBA) was designed to provide a safe space for school age youth to socialize and learn after school and when school is not in session. As a partner of the Metro United Way BLOCS network, YBA strongly focuses on social, emotional, and academic enrichment. There is intentional focus on supporting Black and Brown youth and other marginalized groups with a goal to close the educational performance gap. Our flagship program, reading under nine (RUN), is a literacy enrichment program designed to improve reading competence, confidence, and comprehension. Youth practice communication, problem solving, and identify a new way to express themselves through art. Youth participate in a supportive environment where they interact with others and have a sense of belonging.
